Paul is on a distinguished road
You should see the new sod harvesters they have, no one but the operator on them. You flip a cuple of switches and they are cutting big rolls, flip them back and your cutting small rolls or sheets. They load the skids with a fork lift and it does the rest.

I have to pay $2.00 a square yard for sod plus delivery, plus $12.00 per pallet left at the site and that's the cheaper place. There is about 100 yards on our pallets. I want to buy sod where you guys get it! I love doing sod. Easy to lay and very profitable here despite my high wholesale cost.

Actually @ .22 cents a foot, you're prices seem pretty competitive.

Cheaper than what we pay out here in CA anyway!

I just found a new supplier that is down to $1.80 a sq.yd. now with a very low delivery charge. Guess I won't be whining anymore about prices.

9 pallets............our pallats are 600sqft. That total is 5400 sqft. Our sod pieces are 1.5x5 = 7.5 sqft.

1.5 hours? 4 laborers

Hard to believe

Your pallets are 600 sq. '?

That's a big pallet of sod! Lol. I talked to someone in NY and the pallets there were the same as yours.

Here it's 50 yards/450 sq. ' pallet.

Welcome Glan. Looks like you're having fun going through all the posts...

You know, breaking that down that's about 1 pallet finished every 17 minutes. Keep in mind the area was prepped and very flat with only a 15 x 15 water feature and a few trees to cut around.

Access with the loader was easy, also. So each pallet was set right where it needed to be.

Yup. That's the fastest I've ever seen it done. It looks beautiful to this day.

That's all this crew does all day long all week.

Talk about efficiency!

Yeah realy....

I know it can be done quick......and you stated in earlier posts that the site was preped. It is the layout of where the sod is going...minimal curves, cuts and obsiticals. And as you also mentioned.......being able to place skids where they needed to be.

I am just not sure I would want to work at that pace myself
