Pest ID, if you please
Was at a client's house today, she seemed to be having trouble with having the foliage eaten on a few of her perennials.
We planted approx. 250 perennials, but she only seems to be having this problem with some Ligularia Przewalskii we planted. Each of them has foliage that has been munched. We also planted Ligularia Dentata, and this seems to be unaffected.
On the underside of the leaf I spotted what appeared to be Aphids and Psyllids, though I don't think they were causing this problem. No snails in the area, and no snail tracks, either.
Any tips as to what the pest might be, and how to resolve it? Should I send them out to look at these plants during the night?
I'll post the top and bottom of a leaf I picked -

From the looks of the damage and the time of year I would say that it is the Colorado potato beetle.
Check this link for control measures http://www.oznet.ksu.edu/dp_hfrr/ext...s/colpotat.htm

My guess is - 'Hungrius Buggus'.
They're crafty little buggers. They eat almost anything except Ligularia Spp.

Hungrius Buggus? Not sure I'm going to bit on that one....
Dan - for the potato beetle - do they feed at night? I didn't see any in the immediate area when I looked.

from what I rember about the potato beetle is that it is an aphid-eating beetle and they do mostly come out at night which may be your problem since you are seeing aphids.
Now they dont respond to any peticide that I know of but Sevin will slow them down but once it is washed off of the plant it will have to be reapplied

Since it is a leaf feeder how about Orthene, the systemic? We used it back in my Chemlawn days. You have to be careful what you spray it on. Seems like it would damage hosta or some other perennial.

we all have our selective pests in or distinct regions. That
pic looks to me like a cutworms damage. Slugs love the moist
areas that this plant thrives. I think it's a worm that dwells
in a shaded/moist enviornment. Is the location similar?
