To me, there is only one logo in the whole bunch that is really well put together, and that's the one below. I don't like the serif in the font, but in general this one is my hands-down winner.

My opinion is that many of them miss the mark when it comes to using the image to comunicate what it is that you do. I wantto recognize something that tells me that property management means grounds management. Most of these are nice graphics, but will not burn into my nind so that I will recall it when someone asks me if I know of any grounds service companies in the area.
I liked the one by Waxwing (Mar 21 2004, 09:32 PM) on the fourth page. It looked classy, less generic without green, the leaf cued me to think grounds, and it was easy to read.

Stonehenge:we appreciate your detailed comments, they are very helpful. This is funny because I got the idea of putting evergreens into our logo from your logo design that we saw on this site! We really like the image that your logo portrays.
Good Job!

I like these the best. They look sharp and would go nice on just about anything. Like stickers, magnets, signs, trucks, and trailers.

Out of these top three I like the one with the green and blue. My second choice would have to be the blue one.

When I am at a traffic light and look out my window at a those logos and that name on a truck, I don't know if it is a maintenance truck for a housing complex, a regional park department, cemetary, or what. Neither the name or the image strongly assert what kind of company or organization it is.
Property maintenance or property management is like a noun. It does not strongly indicate that these services are offered, only that it identifies the owner of the vehicle. Even the subtle difference in using the word "Landscape" make it sound more available.
Lake Erie Landscape Maintenance vs. Lake Erie Property Maintenance
Although the icon has a tree (or evergreens in the other case) it is as much synonomous with parks, housing developments, and other public and private lands. There seems to be a much stronger connection with the lake (or perhaps a city or region) than there is to what service you are offering.
I don't think the connection to the lake or region needs to be emphasized as you are only going to be seen in that area. There is nothing to exploit with that connection.
When you look at stonehenge's graphic quite clear what he does and then is re-emphasized by the name. Most of the Lake Erie graphics and the name make the connection to the lake or region much more dominant than what you do. That suggests that it is owned by the lake or the region rather than that it serves the region.
I might be alone on this opinion, but you did ask for opinions.

tend to agree with you on this ,unfortunately, that's the name I picked a few years ago, and have to live with it at this time. I thinck its too long of a name (certainly when Im writting it out , or customers are writing out on cheques )I had a landscaping business before ,then got called back to a plant I worked at ,now the plant closed ,so here I am again 18 yrs latter. The name of my first company was Lake side Landscaping, unfortunately someone else now uses that name. I do live in a small community and most know me by just the trucks , but I still need a logo for the cottagers in the area .thanks for your comments. Craig

I do give credit to Agla's post about defining the services in the logo. Part of the reason I chose the logo I did was because it did lend itself to explaining what we do.
With that criteria as a backdrop, I do agree that the logo doesn't do a lot to explain your services. However, of the ones that were created in that contest, the one I posted has a pleasing look to me.
It's also possible that since I've been watching so many of the Design Outpost contests, I'm bored seeing the same 'guy pushing a mower' logo, or the 'shovel, snowflake and pruners in a circle' logo. So my opinion should probably not carry the same weight as those who are seeing this with fresher eyes.

Stonehenge:
Thanks for your input again. I find your opinion very valid because we were thinking along the same lines - we didn't want another "grass cutting themed" logo, but rather a design that reflects the area we live in with a landscape feel to it. A good, solid design is the most important issue, as our company's services cover all aspects of property care including seasonal lawn
maintenance, snowplowing, minor household renovations and property management. So we are really looking for something eye-catching that people will see on the trucks and remember.

Hi Capt. Craig,
I like the one Stonehenge pointed out.
It seems solid to me.
