The Perfect Bed edger!

This will probably be taken down by administrators, but I don't really know to start a new thread. Sorry.

What would be the perfect mechanical bed edger. I have done some research and found a dozen bed edgers, only 2 or 3 competative ones like Brown and blue-bird. They all seem to have their pros and cons.

I want to know what you, the people who use these, want. Would the perfect bed edger be: 1) Self-propelled, 2) easy cutting depth adjustment, 3) walk behind/(you walk backwards and the machine follows you. 4) some type of hydrolic steering, for example using a transmission to drive the machine, as well as use built in "cutter breaks" to help steer. 5) How about a collapsable controls, so it can be transported inside a car.

I actually had to haul on of these in side my Ford Explore a day ago and the handles didn't fold down. I had to lay my middle seats down and still almost broke out my rear glass.

Please comment and leave your ideas on the perfect bed edge.
Thanks, sorry again if I put this in the wrong place admin.

All of the above. We use the Bed Bug, but it, like the others, is cumbersome. I would love to be able to walk forward, but that may not be practical. Self-propelled would be great with steering. They are all very difficult to maneuver on a slope, but that may be difficult to overcome as they are heavy by nature.

maybe if the wheels adjusted to the hillside to keep the machine level yet the blade or whatever cuts stayed same depth. self propelled, light in weight, powerful, walk forwards, handles aren't a big factor for me anyway since I have the correct transportation to haul it around.

With the bed bug, do you have trouble starting a new edge? I watched a video and it looked like it was more for redefining an existing bed. How about a bed edger you steer from the rear, but has both forward and reverse?

Do you find your self edging many yards that have hill sides. If so wouldn't it be easier to adjust the cutting head on the fly, rather than raising and lowering the wheels everytime you came up on hill?

We have 2 Browns, a Turf Teq, and a redefining blade we put on a sidewalk edger. The Browns cut the best by far, but they are not self-propelled. The Turf Teq is self-propelled, easy height adjustment, blade change, other attachments, etc. We use 2 people when we do hillsides. None of the handles collapse. There is no "perfect" one out there, we just adjust to the equipment, man power and job we are doing.

Got a "bed Edger" back in 2002 that you walk forward (self propelled), hydro trans with forward & reverse and nice size (12hp?) engine. Does a nice job (but not perfect)!!
