Dump trailers
I was reading a local paper that advertises trucks for sale. As I was flipping through I saw an ad for this Dump Trailer. The thought quickly crossed my mind. What a versatile tool. To my surprise they were'nt as expensive as I thought. Does anyone on here own one, do they work well and what do you use them for? Just wondering. Thanks

We have one. We use it to haul away spoils. Ours is a 12k GVW dual axle. And, they do come in gooseneck models.
Peace,
Rex

Will, I think you'll find that for trailers, your best bet is often to go for a local mfg. For the most part, they all get their beds and hoists from same companies, they just purchase some angle iron or tube steel and weld it up according to their design, and put their sticker on it.
If you buy one from a supplier a thousand miles away, that's where you'll have to go for service.

Rex,
Do you need a class A cdl to drive that trailer in AZ? This one has been haunting me, and other members, for a while now.

Stonehenge-- good idea
Jwholden--I don't think you need a CDL, it's still just a trailer.

Dump trailers are great... we have rented one like this one this year and will purchase one next season. $ 4500. 7500 GVW.
I use trailers a lot. We have 4 right now. One box trailer single axle 8 X14 foot for construction sites. One single axle box trailer, I thinks its 8 X 10 for hauling plants, with racks and all in it. 18 foot tilt trailer, 10,000 GVW for equipment and a single axle landscape maintenance / utility trailer that can be towed with our Ford Ranger. The dump trailers usually have ramps so you can get equipment in them as well.
Trailers are cheap to insure, the capital investment is really minimal for what you get from them, because they lack the expense of engines, transmissions, hydrostatss, etc. We have them all wired the same, balled the same, and we just run and drop when we need to.
I can move equipment and materials fash and efficently and keep the paid help working producing hours. I bid the moblization hours and can increase the net profits combining it with a lot of my running around.

We sign everything. I will have my signmaker cut vinyl signs as big as we can on this trailer. We have them on the tow vehicles, on the box trailers, on the tilt, on job site signs, the equipment everything.
I do not advertise in yellow pages I do not advertise in newspapers, just networking, WOM and our signs. Our signs and refferals get us the most work, we track every lead as to orgin.
