Stihl TS 400 cutoff saw - fuel system maintenance

For fuel system maintenance, the manual says to replace the in-tank filter once a year and clean the fuel tank once a month. I read elsewhere that checking the fuel tank for a clogged vent is also good idea.

But nowhere do I find any how-to info on any of that, except that several sources say that the fuel filter is commonly fished out with a wire.

How do you guys handle these items?

VoodooChile will become famous soon enough
I drop my 2 TS 400s off at my local rental place for service every Fall, including replacement of the fuel-filter. I don't believe there is a fuel tank vent, unlike Stihl backpack blowers. As for cleaning the tank, never done that, but they never sit idle for more than a week or two.

Our one big maintenance item for these saws is blowing the pre-air filter clean as often as possible (everyday isn't too much, especially if you are cutting dry), and hitting the whole saw with some forced air to keep the dust down.

I should add that there has been lots of discussion of cut-off saws on GTX over the years, and if you do a search with keywords like "Stihl TS-400" you should have plenty to read.
