I finally purchased my 1st dump truck. Its a 95 dodge 1 ton dump in good shape (inspectabe). Its has 92000 miles seems to run great. Gas 4x4 5.9 l v8. I paid 7500 , do u guys think I got a good deal? Oh and it has seen at least 5 or 6 winters. Anyone who knows about dodges 1 tons fill me in with some info.

That sounds like a pretty good deal. I use the same truck, but deizel for plowing (I plow using someone elses truck). The oly problem, that I know of, is weak tranni. (auto) Needs replacing every couple of years.

Now, the guy I plow for also owns a very busy topsoil lot, and has many drivers. They may be abusing the truck all summer. I just use it for plowing. (I treat the truck like its my own).

I have the same one but a 96, I have had tranny work done on it twice. Wasn't cheap. Gears needed realignment because of vacuum failure or something at 50K and the torque converter went at 90K Miles. Cost me around 3K each time the work needed to be done.

Overall very nice truck and hearing some of the Ford horror stories I don't feel to bad about the Dodge.

I also have a 95 Dodge 1 ton with a 8 x 12 bed and dump hoist. This has been my main battleship since starting out in 2002. What a truck. We carry anything we can get on it with out much complaint. We have high sides for hauling brush and bulk items, and low sides for rock or tools. We haul our hydroseeder for certain jobs (8300lbs). It has been extremely reliable. We have 4 other pickups in Ford and Chevy flavors, but the Dodges are overall the best in my opinion.

These guys know these trucks down to the smallest detail and have all the answers. It will give you greater piece of mind and save you money when the time comes. Every truck will need repair at some time, but so far the Dodge has been the most reliable.
