Laser Slop

I have noticed that the accuracy of my new laser is pointless if the measuring rod isn't held perfectly plumb.

Are there measuring rods on the market that include bubble levels on the sides to assist the naked eye in holding the rod plumb?

Is there some trick with the laser detector I can use to insure my measuring rod stands straight?

Does this slop matter much for the work I do?

Probably not, but I don't see the point of trumpeting a tools accuracy, 1/8" @ 1000', when your ability to read it could be off by a 1/2"...

The detector clamp that I have has a bubble in a circle level just for that purpose. Most that I've used have had some kind of level on them.Otherwise, yeah what you think is plumb ain't usually so!

No levels on either the detector or the measuring rod of my Lasermark LM-800 kit. Quite an oversight on what is otherwise a pretty sweet package.

I used to have the same problem when I used a transit. My new laser has a bubble level on the detector that attaches to the rod.

I would swear you can get a bubble level for the back of your rod.

Leitz shops have a stick with a bubble built-in.

In one in the middle-east, the smallest was prices at around US$90, though it would probably be a lot cheaper in US or Europe. (stuff's always more expensive here)
