Paver pad attachment
Does anyone have photo's of attaching a paver pad on a plate compactor? I like the idea of using a mud flap in the archived thread on this topic, but I couldn't find any photo's detailing the attachment.
Thanks,
Korey

Test the material first, most of your traditional "mud flaps" will mark the pavers. It is much better to use a non marking type of rubber. We use sections of old conveyor belt from a local concrete plant. Just go to a local concrete mfg. and ask if they have any old belts around, if they don't ask to have someone call when they switch them out, which can be pretty often depending on the size of the plant.
Depending on the type of plate you have, your mfg may have pics of pads they sell. Wacker and Bomag have them, Mikasa does not yet for all there models. Hope this helps.

We've never tried the conveyer belts, but as far as attaching, punch holes and use grommets. Through the grommets you can run bungy cords or something more static like a rope.

Since it's forward moving only does it need to be fastened to the back too or only in front? Since we're talking bungees or rope I guess that the compactor doesn't try to "run over" or "leave the pad behind" too bad?
Mine is a private label (sounds better than "off-brand") so they don't offer a pad or even hints at how to make one. I will try our concrete plant for some old conveyor material though.
Thanks for the help,
Korey

You'll need bungees in the back and the sides, because with the vibration, the pad will go wherever it is being pulled. Bungees in front only, it'll come off in the front. Turning will cause it to go off the sides, so bungees on each side help with that.
