Replacing rubber tracks

I just picked up new tracks for our 257 MTL and need to get them installed tomorrow. Anyone have experience installing these? I have no clue how to get them on.

Run a quick search - I could swear Bill Schwab put some info in here about doing that very thing. Seems he's had his share of issues with skidsteers and other tracked machinery.

Thanks Jeff. I couldn't find anything here but a service tech from cat faxed me instructions. What a nightmare! We wasted an entire morning and got nowhere. I decided to have them come out and install them for me. It will be cheaper than doing it ourselves and I'll stop hurting myself.

How much will they charge for the work? I've a 247 which I love, but it will need tracks eventually, and I too will be compelled to try the replacement myself.

I was told about $300.00 to install them at my yard. That includes drive(1.5 hrs max) time both ways. You could probably save some some $ by bringing it in. One of our tracks lost 5 or 6 of the lugs that drive it due to a seized roller on the sprocket.

I tried a mobile mechanic that I use and we got them on this morning in 2 hrs.

A lot of people ask us here at spamalot how to change rubber tracks. And so we usually bring them in, sell them a case of Sham-Wows and get them signed up for a condo buying trip. Totally obligation free, of course.

The customers are usually all "what in the f does this have to do with rubber tracks?" And we're all - "dude? This is spamalot. Once we have your attention, we're going to throw anything at you that will stick."

Spammer? Seriously? Knock it off. If you want your message out among this audience, you need to pull out your checkbook, not your spammy keyboard.
