BOSS Plow Blues

Got my BOSS plow outta storage yesterday, tested it (fine), parked the truck, dropped the plow to the ground. Today, nothing works. I cleaned, greased, and jiggled every connection, figuring there must be a bad connection. Checked every fuse.

Relays are a mystery to me, as are most things electrical. The dealer says "jack it up, bring it in, we're three weeks out..."

If something was working fine and then suddenly isn't, the problem is usually something simple, right?

Does it have solenoids? Is the motor turning at all?

Nebraska is on a distinguished road
We run Western plows and follow their trouble shooting guide. They are not too complicated if you are somewhat mechanical. I usually will find myself following the guide step by step to isolate the problem. I also seem to recall from helping a friend who runs Boss plows that wires behind the plug in connection on the truck corrodes and break off rather easily.

Here's a Boss trouble shooting guide:

Yes, HR, it has solenoids. Now I have some extras, although that wasn't the problem.
Incidentally, I've been to the Willowbrook Mall. Aint that in Wayne? Had a fine time. Big mall.

Thanks, Nebraska, especially for the thoughtful link. I went through the troubleshooting guide in my owner's manual, though, and ruled out everything.

It was the battery. You can jiggle the connections forty times with no results. The forty-first time got it. This time, I took it apart to clean it. Shoulda done it the first time.

When something was working fine then suddenly doesn't, the problem is usually something simple. Right!

Glad you found the problem. It's always good to have a spare solenoid in the emrgency kit. Yes, the willowbrook mall is about 15 mins. from me but I try to stay away from there. How did you end up there?
