Husqvarna 375k blade replacement
I just got a husq 375k saw...gorgeous, beautiful...can't to use it and never have to use another piece of junk!
Problem is, I can't get the damn blade on.
Takes a bit of wiggling to get the 14" blade on, but when it's on, I can't seem to get the two flanges to properly sandwich the blade tightly, or centre it properly. There's a good half inch of play...I've never encountered this with a stihl or partner....
One of my subs was playing with it too...he hadn't seen this either.
Anyone know what I'm talking about?

The arbor size is different than the hole in the blade (one's metric, one's english) - you should be able to get a little plastic sleeve at any construction supply place to go over the arbor and all will be right. We usually keep a few laying around for just this situation.
Though now, most blades come ready for either, with a little brass punch-out already in the blade.

I'll check into the sleeve re centring...good idea.
What I don't get is that there's an inner flange on the shaft against which the blade wall rests. The outer flange, however, doesn't fit over some kind of round nut at the end of the shaft.
We tried pushing the nut with the inner flange to see if it would pop off...no luck. It doesn't appear threaded though...
Anyway...this is one for the "never seen that" column.

I'm not following you completely here - can you take a couple pics and post them?

Here's a picture of the basic parts which I can't seem to put together.
See that bit on the end of the axle...does it come off??

Something seems screwy there, Raj. I don't have time right now, but will try to get back to this later today/night.

Raj,
If you look at the picture below (of a currently disassembled Partner K950), you'll see the bushing the blade sits on/around and the large cupped washer below it. The shape of the washer means there's a bit of that arbor shaft showing that you can kinda see. On that saw an identical cupped washer goes over the blade once installed, and a bolt (with much smaller washer) tightens the whole works down (and is reverse-threaded, if memory serves me correctly). You can see a lot more of that shaft in your picture - more than what's needed to make up for the cupped washer.
So I'm wondering if there's a partner to that cupped washer somewhere that needs to be installed, or if the bushing isn't seated/tightened completely, or what.

Raj - What's the story on this saw? I need some closure.

you have to take the nut off to get to the arbor. That all comes apart but it seems no wrenchin skills are present (like my writing skills)

Once he's got that small bolt to the right removed, and the large (4" diam) washer removed, he should be able to place the blade right onto that stub, put the washer back, and bolt it down. It doesn't look like he can do that with the way that saw is now.
What brand cutoff saws do you run, sleepy?

Alas, I've been knee deep in a driveway excavation so I'm only getting to the saw tonight...rainday.
Will keep you posted though!
Found a massive diameter tree trunk buried in this (doctor!) client's driveway. Their driveway kept heaving and they couldn't figure out why. Apparently, the previous two driveway contractors had done shallow excavations and had buried this massive trunk and root system, which had been slowly rotting and heaving over the past two decades worth of freeze and thaw cycles...
