My truck needs a jump - bring your wheelbarrow over...

Ok folks - I know many have thought about it, or maybe even dreamed about it. The powered wheelbarrow.

I was flipping through Fine Gardening and saw the ad. www.cargomaxxusa.com

Runs on a 2X12V batteries mounted beneath the tray, which powers a motor inside the sealed hub of the wheel.

There's a thumb switch to turn on/off and change speed.

It's capacity is rated in gallons (not sure too many are moving things in w/b's that are measured in gallons). Let's see - a gallon is what - .6 cubic feet? That'd make this better than a 6 cubic foot w/b. Those tube steel handles look like a weak point in the design.

Will run for 5 continuous hours, charges overnight.

$400 for this baby ----- Any takers? I say go

Id like to add one to the crew that does tight access jobs to go along with our MT-50 Bobcat.

I would attempt to fab it ourselves ..think it would be a fun project.
Found one by Grillo that looks neat.

Ive seen the one you posted on the net before and just doesn't look tough enough ... don't like the idea of batteries either.

The dumper 200 looks almost like the one I have been dreaming about for many years. It has always amazed me at the lack of availability of such an animal.

Mine would be less than 36" wide with powered dump body that could double as a flat deck. Two wheels on the front, hydrostatic power for zero turn radius. One fat castor wheel on the back that you would sit over. Very low ground pressure, capable of moving about 1000 lbs up a significant slope in wet conditions. About 15 hp diesel. I'd buy one tomorrow if I could find it and match it up with a new Bobcat 316 excavator that I saw at the dealer last week.

I hear the Honda and Kubota tracked machines are way cool.

I don't know about the Kubota but the Honda machine is great. It is rated for 800 pounds but in reality it has no problem with about 1500. It is basically a flat bed but with a big box it would be good for gravel and stuff. I have climbed hills with rock that I can barely walk up and it just slogs through mud. I have never been able to get it stuck. It even will climb a flight of stairs if need be. For me it has replaced a tree cart, stone dolly and light tractor. Not the best machine for moving soil but great for every thing else. I don't know if Honda still imports these or not.

Dan - do you know what the Honda machine is called? I don't think I've ever heard of something like that. I see the motorized w/b, and I immediately think it oughta be painted pink (sorry - I'm probably offending the ladies ). If it could handle a substantial amount of material, like what you mention, and not cost almost as much as a skid steer (like the Dingo, et al prices), I'd be interested in hearing about it.

I call it the tank!!!! This machine is about 15 years old. Next time I am in the tool shed I will see if there is some sort of labeling that says what it is called. We paid about 4000.00 for it when it was new. Honda stopped importing it and then started again about 5 years ago but I don't Know it they still do. This machine is only about 3 HP but it has a 2 speed transmission + reverse. 1st gear is a very slow walk and second a brisk walk. Steering is by grip levers on the handle bar that brakes one track. It is one of those toys that you wonder how did I ever do it B4 this.

What is neat about this is that the sides remove, expand out by about 18" on each side, the front folds flat and the bed also dumps. This makes the load area very versatile. I have put 1/2 skids of lockstone and also I once moved a piece of limestone (about 18" x 6'x6') up a very steep slope with no problem.

Cool - that does look like a tank! Where are you finding these - I've been searching google for a 1/2 hour and have had no luck whatsoever.

Looks like a very handy machine. From the looks of the US website, there's nothing offered like that in the states.
