dan I dont know much about the rolloffs themselves But guys in florida have been getting them not just for their work but selling containers to builders and remodelers. Some have gone almost strictly into the container business now.

What size can a 4500 handle? 5500?

I would recommend a larger truck if you're going to use it for anything heavier than mulch. The 4500 has about a 17k gvw which isn't enough for stone deliveries.

a 4500 or 5500 would be large enough for its application. we also have four semi s, five 6 wheelers, and three 4500's. the 4500 is great for homeowner deliveries. and thougnt it would be useful on landscape

Dan,
I use a roll off system made by Bucks Fabricating called the Switch and Go www.bucksfab.com. It is a inexpensive system, and the best tool I have ever purchased. We have a number of different bodies for different applications, and we move them around to each site all the time. It has definitely saved me having to buy another truck for the past two years. We are actually looking at a second truck with the system on it, and an additional 5 bodies. Drop me a PM if you would like any addtional Info.

Dan,
It all depends on the dealer you find, and the shipping. I think the system itself cost around $9,000.00. However, you have to get the chasis modified (bumper, lights, hitch, etc.) to your specs. The bodies are all priced differently, due to gauge of steel and other options. A basic light materil body cost me about $2,200.00 and that was a 20 yd body. My heavy mason body cost $3,100.00, and a flat bed will cost you $2,300.00. The great thing is once you have a stock of bodies, likely you will not have to buy that many more. You can just swap back and forth between trucks. Bucks will make any body you want. They have salt spreaders, landscape bodies, fold down sides, Enclosed bodies. Anything you can dream up, they will make. Plus the rolloff system is quite a bit cheaper then a hook lift.

If you have not found a truck yet, make sure that you get the specs needed from the Bucks site for the model of system you want. This will save you the headache of having to get a long chasis shortened. If you have a truck already, its not a big deal to get the fram modified. Do you have any dealers in your area?
If not, let me know. I know a dealer that is great to work with, and makes shipping easy.

I would even look at installing yourself if you have shop space. It is not all that hard, we will be installing our next system ourselves. It will save you about $1,000.00.

Good Luck

I am selling the one in this thread http://http://www.groundtradesxchang...5&pagenumber=2 Bought it 2 years ago but we've been doing alot of work with a builder and most materials are delivered on his account so we don't use the truck the way we expected to. It also comes with a light material box.
