Mk Diamond Saw problems? Help

I have a Mk Diamond 101 Wet saw that I use to cut my pavers with. On the last brick that I had to cut on a 1800 sQ ft patio I was on, the saw started acting up. The saw is only a year old. This is what it did.

Blew the breaker in the house.
Electric motor was very hot... pressed the motor reset button and it stuck in and will not pop back out?
Reset the breaker in the house and that saw came on very slow like it was being held up and then blew the breaker again!!!!

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Possible that pavers were being pushed through the saw too quickly, taxing that electric motor and causing the breaker to trip. Start-up and under heavy use are typical times for an electric saw to blow a breaker.

And with an 1800 sqft project, it's now possible that you've got some dust buildup inside the motor, making it harder for that motor to turn, making tripping breakers more likely. You may want/need to take the motor apart and clean it thoroughly, along with the rest of the moving parts on the saw.

That's part of the reason why I hate those electric jobs - after this season you might consider selling that to a mason (they seem to use them alot) and buying a couple good cutoff saws.

I've got a different opinion on electric saws. I've been running one I bought used for 8 years pretty much trouble free. Is yours a belt drive unit? If so, remove the belt and see if your blade turns freely. It could be you've lost a bearing on the blade shaft if the blade has drag.

If the blade turns freely and the motor does not, or if you have direct drive and the motor doesn't turn freely, then a motor bearing is probably shot. These can be replaced, or if you don't feel up to it take it to an electric motor shop.

Jeff mentioned the motor loading up with spray. this is an important consideration. You must keep the cooling inlets from clogging with dried spray or the motor will overheat.

Are you using an extension cord? If so, how long and what guage? The only time I've seen this is when using a ligjt duty long cord. Need at least a 14 ga. and not over 50'.

It sounds like one of two things. First, if it heated up so hot that the breaker tripped, it just might need to cool down. It either sounds like the bearing on the blade, or drive system, or the motor.

We don't have any kind of luck with electric saws because even the best ones have tripped breakers, so, my advice is to pick up a 4HP Honda horizontal, like a GX120 and bolt it on where the electric motor came off and be done with it. If you want more ooomph, get a GX160 or 165, that will put you near 5.5 HP.

The same thing just happened to our mbx dry mk brick saw. The motor was shot. Turns out we were using way too thin 16ga 100' cord when it happened. $400 mistake, we now run both the saws on 50' 12ga cords. I still like the saws and don't account the breakdowns to MK, and would still buy more of them.

Just an FYI, Both Sam's Club and BJ's have 100' 12 gauge cords for about $20. I run my saws on them.
