Yes. On my Bobcat S250 we merely reversed the hubs as you mentioned and mounted the tracks (rubber-over-steel). It was was two years ago (and hundreds of abusive hours) when I mounted them and I've never taken them off or had any problems. I spent 1/2 hour adjusting the tracks after the first year and that's the extent of my maintenance.
