Diamond blades

I recently replaced the diamond blade for our 14 inch cut off saw. The blade itself was fairly cheap, $200.00 bucks. We have done one job with it and the blade is now pulling through our block rather than cutting it. We really need to hold the saw back rather than effortlessly hold it while it cuts. Is the blade itself shot?? Does the edges need to be filed??? The blade appears to have plenty of cutting surface left. Any ideas.

There are a couple possibilities, though I'm no expert. One, did you get the proper blade for the material you're cutting? Can't tell you what the difference in the blades is, just that there is. Also, some new blades will "gum up" and you need to plunge them into something cured like an old concrete block.

blush

Did you maybe put it back on the saw back wards? Is the blade wobbling?

There are several possibilities. Is it a wet, or dry blade? If you got a wet blade too hot(running without any/enough water) it will act this way too.

Double check the blade to make sure it's on right. Inspect the washers that hold it, make sure they don't have any junk under them. Then clean the blade by cutting a concrete cinder block.

So if the blade is on and it spins straight and turns in the right direction, you might have the wrong bond on the blade. Did you ask for a Paver blade? Or just a general purpose blade? Too soft a bond can cause the blade to bite into the work too fast.

Blade could be a POS. I have a supplier here who is always selling different brands and every so often he gives me one that is a total piece of junk. Price means nothing......some guys sell $20 blades for $300 and get away with it because most people have no clue.

Besides that, I would listen too everyone else as all their points are excellent,

I don't often have a cement block kicking around so I use asphalt to 'sharpen' up a slow or grabby paver blade.

Thanks for the replies. The blade is on correctly directional wise.

Isn't there a sponsor of this forum that sells blades??

are you using a seperate blade for cutting pavers, srw block and asphalt or all in one. A blade that can be used wet or dry for cutting cured concrete or other?

The last blade we replaced experienced the same symptoms as this one all though we did get almost a full season from it. Grabbing / wobble. I am wondering if its caused by the operator more so than the blade itself.

Yes to all lol. There are different blades for each type of material. And using the correct blade for the particular material will result in better performance.
