Thought that I would share my new truck purchasing experience.

I did my research...went to the dealer and test drove the truck I wanted. I then narrowed down my requirements to a list of options. I could get nowhere with two dealers as far as price. I also found myself spending inordinate amounts of time sitting in an office or cubicle with a sales rep.

Saturday I went online. Entered exactly what I wanted. Within 4 hours I had 4 dealers coming to me with prices. Within another hour, I ended up with an agreement through email to purchase a truck below even the price I thought I could negotiate, at a dealership 25 miles north of here. With this particular deal I went way into the dealer's holdback on this one.

Went out today and signed the purchase agreement and take delivery on Tuesday PM or Wednesday... The dealership is actually delivering it to us!

Once I went the online route, it ended up being the best vehicle shopping experience that I have ever had!! Keep in mind that for sucess you must have all your ducks in a row as far as options, pricing, invoice prices, holdback %ages, etc. before you go this route.

Congrats - I'm not familiar with 'holdback'. What exactly is that?

We're kinda locked into Chev/GM here - we have access to family discounts, so anything 3500 HD and smaller we don't even have to squabble over price. Just present the certificate and the pearly gates open.

You have MSRP, Invoice Price, and actual dealer cost. Holdback in the case of GM is a % of the MSRP.
