Can anyone recommend good books on the history of design that focus on something other than English Landscape Movement? Has anyone read Garden History: Philosophy and Design 2000 BC - 2000 AD by Tom Turner?

It seems a lot of the books I find cover pre-Western in a chapter and then the rest of the book is Renaissance to English Landscape. That's great to know, but I'm looking to move beyond that.

Did you get the suggestion I made about "Landscape Interpretations"?

I have seen a couple of good books about Islamic gardens. I think they were written by Hobhouse and also John Brookes wrote one.

Gang Chen wrote a book, I believe it's called "Planting Design", where he talks about the history of Chinese gardens quite a bit. He might have written other books specifically on Chinese gardens.
