Amusement Park Design
Hi...
I just got a chance to participate in a competition to construct an amusement park in Iraq and the deadline is next thursday...
the internet just seems to have few information sources about it...
i am making researches of the games and rides it may include...
rules and principles to follow... etc...
because the first step is to create a coherent strategy before the group starts creating the design...
has anyone ever worked on one...?
is there smewhere that speaks of technical procedures, details, anything that maybe of help?

I designed an oil refinery using information I got off the internet. It didn't turn out TOO bad.
Dude, what are you talking about? Trying to design an amusement park by looking on the internet!!!
Obviously this is more of a hypothetical design and not something that will be implemented. Not trying to be negative here but try contacting an engineering firm.
Wish I could help you but I have to research my next project for the Georgian Republic: a space rocket launch site.

Check out www.areyoufreakinkiddingme.com - there's lot's of great info.
FE - I just did a launch site last week. Make sure you use the thicker pavers (3") and go a little deeper on the base, maybe 50' or so. Those thrusters really have a lot of thrust. Unfortunately, we didn't compact the base that well so the rocket lifted off on a little bit of a slant. Luckily for us the engineers at NASA were able to adjust the coordinates before it hit a few towns. Talk about your lawsuits
I just got a new project though. It's building a tunnel from the US to China. They wanted to call it "The Chunnel" but wouldn't you know it, the name is already taken. Anyway, does anyone know how to temporarily displace magma or shift a tech-tonic plate? I was thinking of using a sonatube but I'm not sure what the temperature rating is. One last question, should I suggest they start at China or in the US? I'm not really sure.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I have a 12" magma pump that I'll rent you. Comes with 14,500 miles of hose to get your magma almost anywhere.

Start in china because they have less regulations. With any luck you can get 90% done before the US trys to regulate the child labor your paying with rice paddies.2 roller coasters,a water slide, food court, and some palm trees, that'll be 2.5 mill. Thanks for the business.

Why wait till Thursday? The shooting galleries are already in place. The rest shouldn't be to hard..... Forget the internet. I'd rush down to the store and get the latest version of Pro Landscape and Roller Coaster Tycoon....
Seriously, if you aren't pulling our leg here, just spend about 2 seconds and think about what you just posted.
Do you have any commercial park design experience? Apartments complexes? Malls or shopping centers or any other commercial sites where people gather?

Thanks, but now I feel like a jerk and I must apologize for my rudeness. I am sorry for my remarks, but the thought of building an amusement park in Iraq, anywhere in Iraq right now sounds very strange. I certainly meant no disrespect for the people being killed or wounded over there on a regular basis.
I don't always have time to read all the threads here. If I had, I would have realized you are a student working on a class thesis or maybe a state run contest in Lebanon. At the least you are a beginning designer / architect and are looking for ideas and sources of information from outside your normal culture and structure.
Your religious adventure park sounds even more risky. Religious tolerance seems to be in short supply in many Middle Eastern countries. However isn’t it the roll of the young to challenge the accepted norm and push us all to new perspectives. Good luck to you.

He never said he was in school. If I had seen that I might have said something not so ass like.He simply said he got the chance to design a park.I still dont see that he's in school.Even if he is in school I know damn well they did'nt give a one week deadline for a theme park.A house maybe..What kind of school is this?Or why did you wait till the last minute

Hi...
maybe i didnt explain what i need very well..
but first..
i just graduated from university last week and I got A+ on my Religious Park design (which is my thesis)...
Three days ago an engineer called me and he said that he would want me to work with him...
He received the news late as well from his friend and the deadline is next week...
So yes, i am still a fresh graduate looking for inspiring ideas...
but what i meant about the internet is how to find info about the games of a theme park..
i mean their names...
i dont know what are they called...
i just know Roller Coaster and Ferris wheel...
i mean if i have to put a design and concept, at least i should have some background of the games installed in a theme park and heir dimensions...
this is what i am unable to find...
i have put the design, but i am just unsure that the dimensions og the games and rides is correct...
so i just hoped if anyone of you knew where can i find what are these rides called...
a list by the names for example maybe great...

There is a childrens computer game called "Roller Coaster Tycoon". I'm not joking. See if you can find it and down-load it. The object of the game is to build a wonderful amusement park. It has all the roller coasters, ferris wheels, bumper cars, trains, log rides, bath rooms, hot dog stands, everything you need to build and run a park. You can even change the grade of the land, add or take out vegitation, add or remove a lake, whatever. My kids and I get into contests to see who can attract more visitors to our parks and who can make more profit.
It's hands on and it's a start.
Other then that, google.

I guess your first post WAS lacking a bit on what you actually needed.
Everytime I'm at some type of big park or fair, I find that there is one common type of name. It's got "Whack" in it.
*Whack-a-mole
*Whack the robber
*Whack attack
*Don't get whacked
*Stack & whack
*Whack it
*Whack on, Whack off
Anyways, wish I could be of more assistance.
