Another plant ID (tree)

OK guys, a family member just bought 16 wooded acres. While walking through, I seen a few of these awesome little trees. I have never seen them before that I remember, so I dug up a small one and planted it at the house to watch it, and figure out what it is. I seen them get to be about 15' on this wooded lot.

I am located in Baltimore, MD and here are the pics:

phototropic1 is an unknown quantity at this point
Rhododendron canescens. If not canescens, then really close. You're right, they're way cool.

Wow, that was fast =), thought I might have stumped you guys. I never thought of a rhode, none of them had a shrub form, all were growing like trees. Maybe stunted growth from all the shade.

Very neat little tree, thanks for the ID!
