pics of paver project

This project was just being finished up when I took these pics. I had designed it with bluestone and a dry laid stone wall, but it got too expensive for the Client. We wound up using pavers and wall material from Belgard. The first wall is a free standing seat wall.

The color is supposed to be gray with some brown/tan tones in it. It's still pretty dusty, but hopefully over time more brown/tan will appear. I always find it a challenge to find pavers to go really well with brick.

Looks nice. I did a project with that same block last year (after I designed it w/ bluestone and stacked stone walls and it was to expensive for my clients) and have been nothing but disappointed with the colors as I complained about in great detail in another post. Unless they are wet they basically look like cinderblock gray with a few darker blocks thrown in.

I actually saw this particular color/paver laid in a sample area at the stone yard. It was mostly gray, but you could see quite a bit of tan running through it. It was Dublin, Ardennes Gray. This is the first time I have used Belgard.

The contractor did not want to hose it down due to the polymerized sand in the joints. So I am hoping as time goes on and the dust is gone, you will see more of the other colors. I can actually see some of the tan color in it now, but not as much as should be there.

The block for the walls is Belgard Celtik, Oxford Gray. These I knew would be pretty gray, but they looked nice with the pavers. For the retaining wall (not the seat wall) we used both the 3" and 6" groups and mixed them together, in addition to turning some on end.

i did three jobs last year with no soldier course......it wasnt by choice the homeowners felt that it made the patio feel smaller. the only problem i have seen is that over time the small cuts tend to loosen because of foottraffic.....i warn the cutomer about this is a made a clause in my contracts to note that......to schleng.....was it your choice not use a slodier or was it the customers..?

I was my choice. In this case I just felt it was a cleaner look.

We use Dublin Cobble in the fossil beige color almost exclusively. Works with stone, concrete, even brick. The sailor course has a cleaner look and doesn't visually narrow walkways like a soldier course will.
