Driveway/sidewalk Permit Take Out

As the (unlicensed) designer of the job, if I go and pull permits for new driveway/sidewalk for the (licensed)contractor, does it make me liable for any issues that come up with that portion of the job should they arise?

Contractor has asked me to go pull the permits. I have never been asked to do this before, not sure about the process.

Anyone have any advice or thought on the subject? If the contractor asked you to do this ....would you?

Thank you!

You live in a heavily regulated state. I'm not sure that any other state has as strong regulations on landscape designers as Oregon does (or on pumping your own gas for that matter).

I would be very surprised if you can pull the permit as you are neither the property owner doing the work yourself, or a general contractor (or other suitable licensed professional allowed to hire subcontractors), or a contractor.

You might want to PM MDVaden. I believe he is or was on the board for licensing landscape designers in Oregon. He might have some specific info for you or he can point you to where you can find out.

You could ask the contractor to make out a check to the city or who ever, with the amount blank. You would become an authorized agent for the contractor at that point. As far as liability is concerned, I have no idea.
