Plant Database Software

Hello, forum'ers! I'd like get your opinion of Compleat Botanica as a database tool for designers. It's got a lot of features for building your own (with your own digital photos), printing reports, connecting to databases on the Web, sorting, etc. Anyone out there used it, or have another recommendation? I just found it on-line for about $50 (50% off); end of sale supposedly is tomorrow (July 31). It came out in 2003, I think. How soon will it be out of date, as far as software advances, etc?

Go ahead and start saving and buy Horticopia Pro. Its by far the best plant database software on the market. Ive never seen any other software to my knowledge that has 8700 different plants with full pictures. Ull spend about $600 for the top of the line bundle, the lesser bundle Pro SE with 5000 plants is $325.

Sometimes, you just gotta build your own...

http://plants.usda.gov/

This is probably the largest, but that's a guess, public plant database, searchable by common, and botanical names, from species to plant kingdoms, if anyone knows of other good reources, I guess you might want to post it here. It includes extensive search criteria.

heres a couple others
