Just thought I'd chime in to let you know that we've fixed the scaling issues, and our next product update(due soon!) includes the ability to save drawings as Adobe PDF documents, which will make the print shop experience virtually hassle free.

At any rate, fantastic information - love this discussion. If anyone has any questions, I'll answer them, as always.

Best regards,

Fred
Don't get me started, Fred. Unless you are looking for a challenge. I have a list. Then again, I might end up becoming a fan.

As far as the scaling issue is concerned, Kinko's was able to convert my drawings to PDF, but it didn't solve the skewed scale issue for me. Honestly, I think it's a Kinko's issue as well. I ended up purchasing an HP DesignJet 100 printer ($1,200. - $1,500.) and I'm very happy with the quality and accuracy of prints I can produce.

As Fred mentioned, the newer versions are probably better then mine. I'm using Dynascape 3.0.

Still grumpy,
Bill

Bill- can you print to pdf instead of saving as pdf? I use Xerox docuprinter ($100) at home, and CutePDFwriter (free!) at the office to generate pdfs for clients. It works really well, and it scales accurately. It's how I get pdfs from Horticopia- their save to pdf feature is horrible, it makes the biggest files you've ever seen, too big to email (other than that, nothing but love for Horticopia).

Ahh, that's it then... 3.0 goes back a couple of years (at least!). While I wouldn't dare insist that we've changed everything you didn't like, a great deal has changed since then.

At any rate, I wouldn't mind seeing that list, if you have it handy.

Thanks,

Fred

Does anyone actually use Landscape Pro and like it?

I am new to the design programs, and i know nothing about AutoCAD or how to use it. I was thinking that id save a lot of time with a program like this, because i wouldnt need to learn 2 or even 3 programs before i could start making up designs and estimates.

I have done all my designs by hand, but i have realized that i am not very good at this, so i think its time i upgrade to something.

Any input would be great, thanks.

I too, am looking for simple residential landscape design software. This thread has been great to read, but I'm still not sure what I need.

At this time, I only do residential. Is the "PUNCH Master Landscape Pro and Home Design" good for simple redentions to provide to my customers on estimates? How well does it show/draw retaining walls and pavers?

What is the best software to get for retaining walls and pavers? Most be simple to use and inexpensive.

Still confused!!

Hey Matt,

Good to hear from you again. I really do need to come see you one day. I know I tried one time last spring, but got turned around on other things and didn't make it over there.
If you would e-mail me your info, I really would like to come meet you and see first hand this software.

Thanks again

Derek

I don't see a listing in the phone book for you. If you want to, send me an e-mail with your address or phone number. Maybe we can get a cup of coffee on a rainy day or something.

I have visual impact Imaging. So far its been really great for the size projects that we do. If its really big(30k and up) I'll hand draw because I don't know how to print out a design on anything bigger than 8" x11" and that makes everything to cramped. Got my new upgrade back in oct. but havent used it until today. More user friendly but has a learning curve.

I like that I can import Horticopia images into my library and use them in my designs. Alot more realistic! Whomever put the images in for everyday use in my program, pro-landscapes, and one my brother has( don't remember name) they are so fakey looking.

More questions... we're looking at a new software program. I've looked at so many I can't remember what's what. The biggest problem we seem to have with these programs are what seem to be such limitations in plant selection. We do trees and shrubs, but we also do a lot of perennials. Perennials are so varied in shape and size I really don't like putting in generic plant forms. How is ProLandscape at that? What other design software is good at perennials? Also, we're not always designing up against the house, many times it's in the backyard, against the woods. Would we be able to put a picture in of the actual wooded background to scale?

I know this topic has been beat to death so I really appreciate the input!
