Targeting seasonal homeowners

I am hoping to do a direct mail campaign next year, but I am wondering if this is the best way to reach owners of second homes. They are a significant portion of my clients here on the coast of Maine. Can I buy mailing lists that will give me the winter/permanant address of seasonal homeowners, or do I need to come up with another way of reaching them? Any and all thought appreciated.

A few years ago as a loan officer, I got a mailing list from a title company, for prospects that listed both the home address of the property with a high interest rate, and the permanent address of the owner. You might contact a local title company and see what they have to offer. In talking with them, I was able to specify the county, interest rate, price of home, length of ownership, etc. so I'm sure you can select by whatever criteria you want, i.e. excluding townhomes, etc, and then the resulting excel spreadsheet will show home address and permanent address.

I'm not sure how far along this is in your area, but a lot of towns now have searchable databases of assessor's information on line and some even have disks that you can purchase. A disk is ideal because you can sort the database very quickly. If there is an online database, it will mean that you have to search by street and then look for mailing addresses.

What towns do you work in?

agla - I am in the Bath/Brunswick area. I have my doubts that any of them will be able to provide a disk, especially in the coastal towns (Harpswell, Georgetown etc) but I will see what they can do. If I can get the assesor's info in any form, I can cross reference a purchased mailing list by hand. Tedious, but that's what winter's are for!

And Terre, I will check out the title co.s as well. I never would have thought of that. Thanks to you both.

what an amazing area of the country. I spent some time up there a few summers and want to repeat frequently. If you ever want to trade locations, give me a shout.
