Tracking leads

I'm trying to actually track where leads are coming from this year, and get a closing percentage off of them. Pretty un-scientific as I'm just writing down each new caller, type of work quoted on, how they heard of me, and whether or not they signed on.

So far 33 calls since March 9th. 10 closed. 3 up in the air still. Calls are roughly 50/50 maintenance vs. landscaping. Don't know how that compares with the rest of you guys. Don't even know how it compares to previous years for me, since I haven't accurately tracked this info before.

It's a start...

Is that 33 new callers?

Closed 10 jobs from the new callers?

What about existing customers requesting work?

Actually, ive been thinking this through and have 8 different variations of the same web address so that I can advertise each in a different medium and see exactly which one(s) is producing simply by which web adress they enter... obviously each address will take the lead to the same home page but they likely wont realize this. Think im over analizing it?

I created a spreadsheet to track my estimates this year. I kept it as simple as I could with the estimate name, mat, lab, etc. and cost of the job. I then track whether the job is pending, accepted, rejected, or completed.

I created other worksheets using the data from the main sheet. I will use the data to track what percent of my estimates I close on and do some basic job costing.

My goal is to keep it simple - something I can keep up with - and give me some motivation and hard data to track my year with. I'm curious to see what my closing ratio ends up at.

Once again, this idea came from the Huston book.
