Man the more you look at that picture the more confusing it is. Looks like just sides on the dump bed but M.C. Escher could have designed that thing.

It's a combination body with a spreader built in. I do a lot of snow removal and this truck will convert from a dump to a salt spreader in 10 minutes with just a 9/16 wrench. The right side of the body tips up to feed the conveyor chain that runs down the driver's side of the floor and dumps on the spinner you see behind the driver's door. The body also dumps conventionally to the rear. It works out very well for me.

How long have you had that body? It's an interesting concept but seems that you would have strength issues with a hinged floor.

It's been in service since May of '02 and hasn't given me any problems at all. The hinge is a full length piano style hinge made of 3/4" diameter tubing with a 1/8" wall. The body is stainless throughout, there have been no durability issues thus far.

Pelican,
That is pretty slick, did you have that fabricated or is there a company that sells the set up. What do you cover your track with when you are using it for work other then ice control? Is it hydraulic or electric?

I just saw PayDaze's hydroseeding truck today, even oncoming on route 130 (a busy highway) I zoomed right in on that thing. The pictures don't do the pink justice!

Great idea Paydaze.

Matt, sorry I missed your post. The body is manufactured by Tarrant in Sarasota Springs. There's a hinged 1/4" plate that drops over the conveyor when not using the spreader. The spinner comes off with just a 9/16 wrench, it has quick release hydro fittings. I can convert from landscape use to spreader in 10 minutes or less with just the 9/16 wrench.

Jeff, do you want to split this stuff off to another thread? I didn't mean to go off topic.

Back in the 80's Ford had a very nice Desert Tan Metallic. I had ordered 2 dumps in that color.......trucks never, ever looked dirty.

John was told the same thing from my dealer of my 2 recent dumps.......white never changes and can always be found if needed used......that and lettering stands out well.

I'll take pics this year of the trucks.......pics I have now are of the old logo

"Other" is my vote. I have dark metallic Gray trucks and trailers with metallic Dark Blue caps and trim. Lots of chrome. I like shiny things.

With the exception of the truck that I drive, all my equipment is older. But it's all painted in the same color scheme (including my skidloader) and is kept shiny. I have had clients call me because of the appearance of my equipment (and crew). First impressions are everything!

I have worked for several companies in the past that cared little for the appearance of their equipment. They had numerous rusty trucks of varying colors and mis-matched logos. Interestingly, they treated their customers and employees the same way.
