Voltage Problem....

i've got a kichler lighting system set up for a client and i'm having a problem with one run. the 3 lights on the run are showing 12.3 volts when hooked up to the 13V tap, and 11.3 when hooked up to the 12V tap. problem is that 12.3 is too high and 11.3 is too low - i'm burning out lamps on either setting. what is a good rule of thumb when voltage rnag eisn't exactly right no matter what tap you're using?

thanks,

jim

Honestly, we don't have that problem. We find that 11.3 isn't too low since we try to stay between 10.5 and 12. It sounds like the wire sizing for the run could be off. What size wire is it and how long a run?

the wire is 12 ga. and i am guessing the run to be only about 25' or so....

seems to me a kichler rep told me that the acceptable range for lv lighting was 11.5 to 12, not ever to exceed 12. that can be a pretty tight range to accomplish.

10.7 to 11.7 is the range to be in. You shouldn't be getting premature burnouts with
11.3. thelife of the bulb should be extended. 12volts is the average #of hours they post, anything below that to a point only extends it. Are you touching the bulbs with your bare fingers? The oils from your hands lower the life of the bulbs. Use grease for the sockets.

seyed is an unknown quantity at this point
As others mentioned it. 11.3 is a good range , they burn because of other problems.
