Advice needed on filling in behind lights

I've finished the mortared limestone wall in my front yard - the pic is from a week or so ago, and since then the site is a little cleaner, the lights have been wired, and the lenses installed. I'll post a nighttime pic when I get a chance to take one.

Anyway, I need some advice on filling in the voids in the backside of the wall before I fill with soil.

Here's the backside of the wall. We'll be filling with soil and putting in some plant material, but before we do I want to fill in those voids.

I was thinking taking some thin plastic bags, like what you get at the grocery store, tucking one into the void, then filling it with expandable foam.

We have the mortar in all the voids sloped so that any water in there will naturally flow down and away from the light fixtures, but I want to seal them up a bit better if I can.

How about a short piece of conduit (poly pipe for that matter) to allow for access to that wire. Then a little bit of fiberglass insulation to keep out the mortar and parge it up.

BRL is an unknown quantity at this point
I'm using that same light at my house (or one just like it), in a wall. I believe the junctions can be tucked into the box in case there is a need for future access. I sealed the boxes with silicone to make sure no water could get in, then mortared up the voids.

How about black pond foam? Used it on a dry stack wall and it worked great.

Yeah, I'm not sure why I was thinking I needed to have continued access to the back side of the wall. Most work should be done from the front, taking off the lens. But I do want to plug up the openings in the housing, so water won't find it's way in there.
