davedogwood is an unknown quantity at this point
in lawn fixtures

We have a maintenance customer with some lights in the grass areas uplighting trees. The problem is the cast covers (Hadco) get crushed when run over with the mowers.
Can anyone recommend a brand that will stand up to the weight of the ride on mower without being damaged.
(we didn't do the lighting job but are going to do the new work)

Thanks Dave

Is mulching around the trees an option?
If they are the plastic wellytes-- w/ covers or louvers thet just arent strong enough construction.
Could you weedeat or pushmow around the trees? Or is it not practical?
There are some bronze or brass fixtures that are flush w/ the ground and they have a heavier duty cover over the lamps.

Sounds like you have the wrong cover/fixture. I'm pretty sure most manufacturers make a well light suitable for the job, but know they are a little trickier to find with low voltage.

To really make them durable, they need to be set in concrete, or they are going to smoosh around no matter what. Plus, the concrete gives the rim support. The only way would be to get a solid concrete rim around the light. Even if they don't break, they will move over time.
