Lighting question

I bought some malibu low voltage lights and want to put them in some hardscape steps I'm building. The manufacture says to not put a fixture less than 10' from the transformer ? Why ? That kind of screws my plan up. And they say they have a different connector for wet or direct burial ??

Why????....because malibu lights are garbage and they are covering their buts. As for the connectors, the discs are garbage, thats why they say that. Aren't ALL outdoor lights installed in a wet environment???? It makes no sense why they would even sell a connector that wasn't meant for wet conditions. By yourself a few packs of drycon silicon filled wire nuts and throw out the garbage they give you.

Throw out the lights, too, and convince your customer to spend the money on something that will hold up for more than a year.
