first lighting project

I'm just finishing up my first lighting project tomorrow.

All that is left to do is make adjustments at night and spread a little mulch as I promised the client.

We installed two 300watt trannys, 3 35 watt bullet lights, and 5 20watt area/patch lights. A little mulch and labor brought the job total to $2500. I should also mention we used Unique Copper Knights fixtures and hubs.

I think I padded the price a bit, so I may throw in an extra fixture at no charge. This customer has given me about $23,000 of work this season and every time I exceed their expectations, so I dont want this to be any diffferent.

What was your first lighting job like??

Nick

My first "real" lighting job was at a brand new $1.5 million home. We (2men) installed 19 fixtures and 2 600w transformers in one day for $5k. Mostly up-lighting ornamentals some path, some walls and a couple down lights for a play area.

My first lighting job? I think I hooked up a transformer, then a few lights. It was many moons ago, so I have no idea what was installed. And it was while working for another company, so I don't know how much $ I made for the boss putting them in.

What's involved with lighting (in a nutshell)?

Do you wire them into the fuse box or make a box for them?

LOL My first lighting jobs were with those plastic kits from Toro..........years........ago.

Only 2 years ago we got more serious and have been using the Metal Cast Malibu lights.......Easy to locate and reasonably priced.

So.........it's been 1 circuit layouts with a couple spots for up lighting and lanterns. Largest layout has been my own home...posted in the "50 Watt" thread

Any where you have a plug that feeds the outside will work. Outdoor outlet.......Garage outlets.........If not. Need an electrition to put a box outside.

Transformers are all weather and can be placed outdoors.

I firmly believe that enjoying the garden doesn't have to end cause the sun went down.

I should try taking pics of my home at dusk...

my first lighting job on my own was only 2lights. She now wishes that she had done more, but still wont do it. In 4 yrs of business I've only done a handfull of jobs. Love to do it because it looks so nice.
