irrigation guys please help

If you guys don't mind, please let me know if this quote I recieved from my irrigation sub is reasonable. Its one of about 7 systems we have subbed out to them in the last 16 months.

3000 linear feet of drip hose. existing pressure means we will have to have no more than 375 drip feet per zone. so, probably 10 zones for the drip hose. Only 3 turf areas where there will be whirlybird heads. maybe 2000 ft2 max. (? how many zones... maybe 5?)

They need to install 3 short underground sleeves for a feildstone walkway and reset all of 6 stones. Driveway sleeve will be installed by us.

So, add plumbing, a controller (residential style), winterizing the system (zone 6 weather), and the small odds and ends like the travel time and such (not much though) and he comes to:
$6800.00
which could be right but seems high to my partner and I. Just let me know if this sets off red flags for anyone.
Thanks

We don't install it but some of the subs have averaged $500 - $700 per zone. Every one seems different lately. On our current project , they used drip line for shrubs & trees but used micro - sprays on all the flowers. It seems that all the drip line is on one zone and the linear footage has to be close to 1000'.

Sounds very reasonable to me. If he has done that many for you before and you thought the price was fine, i dount he would start ripping you off now. Is this job one of the bigger drip systems they have installed for you?

Our labor on a complicated drip system was often times greater the a typical sprinkler system. 10 drip zones sounds like a lot of labor. How many plants?

In 97' I would have charged 5,500. - 5,800. base price for a 15 valve system, Back flow preventer and a Raindial. Thats Phoenix, so no winterizing.... whatever that is. Soil conditions, access and working conditions could change that a bit.

Is that 10,000 sqft of grass area to be covered? with 5 zones?

10 independent runs of drip?.......10 zones

Yeah......total 15 zones. (big system)

Looks like he left you nice markup for yourself

ncsu- this is not the largest system.
glan- that is not 10k ft2 only 2k ft2, but, 5 zones is my guess because its an old well with low pressure. could be 2 zones? don't know yet. he threw out a price.

someone was recently spouting about how amazingly profitable drip irrigation is and this system is almost all drip.... so I wanted to run the price by some irrigation guys. I guess it is reasonable. lot of plants. just seems that each time i think i understand where the pricing is coming from.... I miss the boat and scratch my head. like i said, this is one of many systems from this sub.

Old well or not.......low pressure.........so why not a new pump?

Maybe able to cut the zones in half and that should more than cover the pump.

Guys around here cover 2k sqft. with 1 zone of rotary heads
