Please fix my house!

I am a young new homeowner and can't stand pulling up to my landscaping everyday or lack there of. I want to rip it all out and start from scratch. The biggest obsticals I am facing is that the gas meter and the gas exhaust vent were both built into the front of my house, If you look closely you can see them on the left hand side of the house under the window. I live in SW VA (Zone 9 I believe) and the sun rises directly behind my house and sets directly in front of my house. The front of my house also contains two large trees that spread a decent amount of shade once the sun sets in behind them.

I wanted to see if anyone on here is good at photoshopping pictures and could help design something that would work for my area. I will also need help with any plants shown in the drawings as I'm not that knowledgeable yet. Thanks!!!!

I think you might be expecting more than the pros would be willing to do - unless of course you're willing to pay a design fee.

You have to understand that this is our livelihood, it's not a forum to get free designs.

My one suggestion would be this: Remove the brick edging.

I wish some people didn't give out free designs or estimates, or that homeowners could understand why something is free and something costs money.

My redo

This is my "don't know what I'm doing attempt at changing my landscaping. The only plants I put in that I know what they are, are dwarf nandina plants (the green yellow and red shrubs) on both sides of the sidewalk. I also attempted to show a minature Japanese maple on the right hand side. Obviously I added shudders, a star, window flower boxes and plants and lights along the walkway. Again I'm not really sure what plants I added I am simply trying to show my idea of what I'd like to see.

If you all could just give me a thumbs up or down and maybe some pointers I'd appreciate it. I realize now that this site is more for the career side of it and not just advice. I didn't realize that in my original post.

Thanks guys and gals!

I'm pretty sure someone in here can came up with a real nice design for couple hundred dollars which would be saved by the time and effort you'll spend trying to figure it out, you can do the planting and really save some money.

Take your photoshop work to your local independent garden center and have them fill in the plant names for you -- and then buy the plants from them. Don't just use their knowledge then run to the nearest big box.

Your local experts are your best bet.

Trees is right. Your local garden center will provide you plants that are appropriate for your soil and exposure, and actually have been watered regularly, not just whenever the high school kid remembers. There is a reason those big box stores guarantee their plants, and it isn't because they are top quality.
