compacting pavers

My paver patio is going to be coming off of an existing concrete patio. How much will the pavers lower after compaction so the concrete and pavers end up at the same level? I have a 5" compacted base with 1 inch of sand. Should I ajust the base for this?

Yes. The answer depends on the materials you use and how well they were compacted. We don't use sand and we allow about 1/8" - 3/16" for compaction. If you're using sand, you'll want a bit more. 3/16" - 5/16" should be about right (but those who use sand regularly please jump in and correct me if I'm wrong).
