Decomposed Granite Pathway

Location: Pacific Northwest (Portland, OR)

Project: Decomposed Granite Pathway (pedestrian residential use only)
Soil: Clay

Here is what I had in mind.....

(1) Excavate and Compact soil.
(2) Mirafi 500x woven layer -- separation of gravel / soil
(3) Compact 3-4 inches of 3/4 minus gravel
(4) Throw down a layer of Mirascape non-woven landscape fabric
(5) 3-4 inches of compacted decomposed granite

Overkill? Or can I simplify?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

I'd eliminate steps 3&4. It's just a gravel walk - there shouldn't be expectations that it is impervious to freeze thaw or can hold the traffic of a semi truck.

Mau is an unknown quantity at this point
I recently did an internet search on DG paths and saw a number Northern Californians saying they use a stabilizer to prevent washout in the winter rains. Specifically, the first two links on this page.

Seeing how you're in Oregon, that's something you might consider.

I'm going to be making a DG path and my stone supplier recommended this product, but I think tamping is all I'm going to do.
