Patio Progress

Not sure how they'll turn out, as I am having some difficulty in re-sizing them, but here's a couple pictures of my bluestone patio progress...more to follow if I can figure out this picture thing better

Bluestone Blues

The patio looks very nice from the photos.

In the future, and as you gain experience, try not to have such long "seams" in some areas. From the pictures it looks like some are 6 or 7' long which tends to attract your eye more than it should. Try to keep them closer to 4 -5' max. Essentially, you have to make the pattern more random which takes a little more time and thinking. Also be careful about cutting pieces too thin close to the edges to make the pattern fit. Tis better to cut a little off of a large piece, than to put a small piece in.

If you search around there are actually suppliers that will figure out the pattern for you and ship you exactly what you need, along with a plan of how to install the pattern.

Overall great job!

Jody,

Thanks...yeah, I realize that some of the seams are a bit long. Definitely something that I will pay more attention to on my next project. As far as the thinner pieces closer to the end, I actually did that on purpose, as I liked the look over a longer continuous piece trimmed on the edge. I guess that's a beginners error there ...no other excuse except for that!

I appreciate the tips and any advice anyone might offer on making the next project better. I am pretty pleased with how this has turned out for my first try, and I have a long way to go in getting really good with the natural cleft stone (tested my nerves more than once during the laying process!!!).

Thanks again!
