Gravel Drive/Cobblestone HELP!

I am a homeowner in Michigan looking to get a gravel drive installed with a raised cobblestone border and a cobblestone apron. I have seen these driveways in the Hamptons. My contractors here have never done this before and are clueless in the process. There Idea of a gravel driveway is throwing some stone crete down in a path and rolling over it once.
I have done some research and called driveway contractors in the New York area and I have been told that the aprons that are typical there are mortared down as are the cobblestone aprons. Also, the cobblestone border i have seen has a type of pointing done that makes it appear as if there is a rounded concrete disk between each cobblestone. I am wondering if I can get a step by step description of how a driveway like this would be done? I am desperate! Thanks so much. I have pictures, but am having trouble uploading them. I can e-mail them to anyone! Thanks again.
