waterproofing agarage wall 2 feet up???

does anyone have any suggestions for waterproofing 2' up the exterior of a garage wall. i have justcompleted a raised patio about 3' from the garage. my wife wants to fill in the space between the patio and the garage wall to make a planting bed. i need to remove a few rows of clapboard and then apply somthing that will be waterproof so i can fill the space with dirt. is there something that will essential turn the lowest 2 feet of the garage into a cement wall?? (waterproofed???)

thanks for the help.
Scott

You could try a couple of things. We are starting a raised patio soon that will be in direct contact with an exterior wall of a home. We are joining to slide a large piece of flashing or sheet metal under the siding and let it extend down almost to ground level were it will be touching solid concrete foundation. We are going to use an asphalt waterproofing goop behind the piece of metal to waterproof the house and adhere the metal. Our Patio base will be crushed stone and will hold less water than your soil. You could also try using rubber pond liner and adhering it the same way, over lapping the foundation and the seams.

Hope this helps, water is one of the most allusive elements we work with.

Don't under-estimate the force of fill 2' high on a wood framed building.
