When to wash pavers?

I have been reading posts as a guest for sometime, gaining very useful insight, and finally decided to register and post my first question.....

I am just finishing up a 20 x 20 patio; used Unilock Brussels, a lot of the pavers have dirt/debris on them. My question is when would be the best time to wash the dirt/debris off the pavers, before compaction/jointing sand, thinking of using polymeric sand, or should I wait until the pavers have been compacted and the polymeric sand has been installed, dried/cured? Also I'd like to use a pressure washer, it's only 1500 PSI max, to ease the cleaning, is this okay or should I just use standard hose nozzle and stiff bristle broom?

Thanks to all of you for the great information this forum provides.

Doug

It probably would have been better to clean them off before you laid them, but since this is where we are, this is where we are. Pressure washing would probably be the route I'd take - easy to clean glommed-on mud and not too harsh on the pavers. Let everything dry completely before applying poly sand and compacting.
