parking area for boat?

need a parking spot for my boat. will be around 10' x 20'. i was going to frame it in with treated lumber and put a layer of gravel. any advice on what size gravel or how deep? should i line it? boat is 18' aluminum on trailer--its pretty light as far as boats go.i would like to use something like a river stone, not just gravel. thanks.

Angular gravel will serve as a better pavement than rounded stones. As for the depth, I would guess the total weight's going to be around 500-800 pounds, trailer and boat. 3" of road gravel (3/4" minus, whatever they call it by you) will work just fine. You can line the bottom if you want, but odds are that any weeds you get are going to be coming from the top, not the bottom. Even so, a geotextile is cheap insurance.
