Wet sand bed for paver install?

I've read that the sand should be dry. My problem is it has been raining for days and I need to get this patio done. Does the sand have to be bone dry or can there be some moisture. This will be a one in layer of sand on top of 6" 5/8- base.

I don't often use a sand bed course, but if I did and was in your shoes, I might spread out that course over the base prep to allow it to dry out more quickly, then as soon as it's moderately dry, screed it off and go.
