It sounds like you are using this mixture for both the base and the soil? That seems like the simplest solution so far.

To an earlier post ... I have about 240 sq. ft. to cover. I am fiddling with other designs now to give me more growing space for the vegetation. Since I already have the pavers, I would prefer to use them if possible.

Paul's got a good idea, and reminded me of a slide show I saw long ago at a landscape association meeting (I think) where they simply mixed 3/4" clear, angular stone and a superabsorbant like the two I mentioned, and that was enough to draw the roots out nicely. Adding a little soil would likely be a nice mix.

To answer your question, the terrasorb/soil moist would get mixed with the soil prior to sweeping it in.
