what to plant until I start building house?

I have just plowed and disced almost 3 acres that I plan to build a house on next year. I now need to plant something that is pleasant to the eye and that will prevent erosion until construction. It will be ready to sow around the middle of August and I live in the midwest. I have no access to water on the property so I will be dependent on mother nature. ANy ideas on what would be good to plant?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What type of soil is there? What type of sun exposure is there? Plants have a hard time growing this time of year. Need info about the land and what you are looking for. Seed or spreading plants.

Rye seed. It will germinate in 3 days, green up quickly and will pretty much die off with frost. Next season you can seed with a more desirable grass.
