First time home owner Looking for answer about which grass to lay down

Our home is almost finished being built. We close in 2 weeks and they will be leveling the land here real soon. They typically lay down a ryegrass seed after they are finished. Unless I ask them to do otherwise.

I live in southcarolina by columbia, so yes it gets warm. No trees in my yard at all. total size of lot is .57 acres.

Im looking for a thicker blade of grass. something nice and full I have a boxer and a 3 month old if that means anything.

Im not a big fan of stringy type grass like bermuda.

any suggestions from the pro's

trees is on a distinguished road
Look at zoysia, though seed is a little hard to come by. Also, call your local Ag. Extension agent. They usually have a pretty good handle on this sort of thing, and know what is available in your area.

I am in Beaufort...so not too far mfrom you. If you insist on seed, go with 'empire' zoysia or 'Zenith' Zoysia, but centipede sod would be my first choice. More expensive at first but you will thank yourself daily...
