Here's a start for a hardscape trailer:
I like the 7'x16' size
Starting with layout tools
string line
2 150' tape measures
2 30' tape measures
wood grade stakes Lath (1/2"x2"x3')
wood hubs (2"x2"x12")
framers square
a couple of levels 2', 4', 6'
5 lb sledge
roofer hammer (makes it hard to miss those lath)
3 or 5 beam laser (looks like a tape measure)
laser level (I like a grade laser)
white spray paint (OSHA COLOR)
triangle scale Architect and Engineer
Excavating equipment
steel spades
round pointed shovels
flat shovels
all steel rakes
what ever equipment you have or need for the job at hand
skid steer, mini-x, ect
Compaction equipment
heavy plate compactor (over 7000 lb unit)
light plate compactor (over 3500 less than 6000 lb unit)
jumping jack tamper (to fix trenches and close to existing concrete or foundations)
We use a plate compactor mounted on our skid steer.
power roller
Screeding Equipment
concrete rake
rail system (for larger jobs)
1" O.D. pipe various lengths)
sand pull (check pave techs web site)
1"x6" boards various sizes (screeding sand)
Restraints or Edging
One bundle of Pave Tech straight
One bundle of Pave Tech curved
100 lbs of 12" nails
palm air nailer
Cutting equipment
2 Edco 14" saws (9 hp)
2 Partner saws 12"
block splitter
Pave Tech quick draw
pencils
chalk
crayons
paver puller (Pave Tech)
Extra jaws for above
Safety Equipment
Safety Glasses
hearing protection
first aid kit
dust mask and filters (OSHA now requires them to be fitted)
face shield
5 gallon Water cooler
Paver cart
Other Equipment
Air compressor
generator
gas tank (30 gallon)
OSHA gas cans (2 gallon) for mixed fuel
hammer drill large (Bosh) with bits ranging from 3/4" to 8"
hammer drill Small
Chisels for splitting block
various hammers and pry bars
chain saw with extra chains
hand saw electric
welder for quick repairs in the field
heavy duty drill
hydraulic repair kit (fixes broke hoses in the field)
Tool kit ,open end wrenches and socket set ect....
Wall tools
Speed Base (a base setting machine for retain wall work, no longer made)
Lifting equipment, various straps, slings, wire rope, clamps.
Few around here are using 12' - 14' box trucks set up with a side lift gate and trailer hitch for the skid steer to carry all this equipment. It also gives the men a place to hide from the rain or have lunch.

yeah, good idea to have a box truck like that. It also doubles as a moving 16'-24'foot billboard or advertisement with your name on it.

Do any of you guys work in rocky soil?
I notice that everyone carries 12" spikes. I used to.
After you Canadians sent your stones down my way with the glaciers that extra 2" of length seems to guarantee hitting a rock. I have switched to 10" which keeps my stake in my base, for the most part.
Paul,
Do you fit all that stuff in a 7 x 16' trailer?

Yes it all fits in a 7x16
We have rebuilt our interiors twice, the guys wanted a place to read plans at the front of the trailer. One thing we did do away with a heater, too many problems with the fuel on board.

Mine is an extra tall 6X12. Get the 7x16 The billboard thing is right on track:
Then, after you get all this stuff, try not to lose your composure when someone tells you the XYZ is laying pavers for $6/ft. or ask you how you can justify making $40/ hr.

SCL - $6.00!! That's expensive!! Just kidding. Although, I have seen it as low as $5.25 from some side job companies that buy stuff from me. I feel your pain (everyone's) cause these guys are screwing up the market. $5.25 might work in FL, but not WI to make a living and do it right. Most of those guys are fly by night guys and probably or at least shouldn't be around in a few years. Problem is, we'll probably never get rid of them cause they are always new ones popping up all the time.
