Has anyone installed a deck using Red Meranti?

Hi,

I am quoting on a deck using red Meranti wood and was wondering if anyone can give me some idea as to if it takes longer to fasten than a regular deck. I have used Ipe and know that it needs to be pre-drilled and that takes time. Also I may need to rip quite a bit for a railing/screen detail and was also wondering if it rips like Cedar or Ipe? Any tips overall would be helpful.

Thanks,

Jason

Stonehenge is on a distinguished road
Nope. A quick search found reports of it not being as durable as mahogany from North America. Didn't see anything to indicate it was as hard as Ipe.
