How Much Water?

I want to add a wash-rack for cars next to my home shop, I need to excavate an area to be filled with gravel to catch and percolate the waste water, in order to calculate the excavation area I need to know how much water will fit in a cubic foot after it is filled with 3/4" drain rock?

Fill a 1 gallon jar with water and then fill it with 3/4 inch rock. Then pour out the remaining water into a measure and you will have your answer. Simple soil science.

Orchard Ex is an unknown quantity at this point
And then multiply by 7.48?

No. You would divide by 7.48

So if you poured out .25 gal out of your 1 gal jar, you divide .25 by 7.48 and get .033 gals per cubic foot?
Or multiply .25 gals by 7.48 to get 1.87 gals per cubic foot?
