Dry Stack Flagstone Wall - Corners?

Hi,
I am building a dry stacked red flagstone wall and it calls for a corner. What is the best way to handle the corner?
Butt the two walls together?
Miter the end stones together?
Weave the corner with alternate stones from each wall?
The weave should be the strongest but can this be done due to variation in stone thickness, etc.?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Gary

The corner should be woven together. Use small, thin rocks as shims lodged between larger stones to fill gaps that develop. Good luck with it. Just curious about the region you're getting the stone from?

Hi,
Thanks for confirming the technique. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't some trick I wasn't aware of. I am in the Denver area. Lots or Red Sandstone available at about $200/ton. Comes out of the foothills of the Rockies about 5 to 10 miles arround Denver.

Weaving is the best go...you may want to consider splitting the stone @ a 90 the get a nice clean corner.

Right and wrong

Weaving is correct, Or as I like to show others-interlocking my fingers.

But like any thing there is the right way and the wrong. As we all know.
Yes Chinks may be used to fill only from the back side. Other wise they will fall out if to small. (small stones may be used as long as the meet in the middle to the other side or at least touch 3 sides). You always should pack as you go on the inside.

The "inside" corner you can cheat (not all woven) a little bit as long has you have large stones- Because the load will be pushing in. The out side is really the key. Just like your run make sure you follow the rules. No running joints. One over 2, 2 over one....ect

I hope my photo might help show you a first layer I worked on. This was built from ruble in NY at the Mohonk Preserve. If you want you can always email off line any time.
